Saunteel Jenkins and four other candidates signed a pledge on Oct. 20th to make prevention of youth violence a priority if they are elected
Saunteel Jenkins, a social worker and candidate for Detroit City Council, announced her platform to reduce youth violence and was joined by four other Council candidates, Gary Brown, Charles Pugh, Andre Spivey and James Tate, in pledging to make the reduction of youth violence a priority if they are elected to City Council.
Jenkins’ plan includes steps to:
- launch more street-outreach and afterschool programs
- invest in police initiatives to target violent gangs
- implement gun buy-back programs to reduce the number of guns on the streets
